EXPERTISE
Fiona Guy Kidd KC is a trusted senior criminal law specialist. With 30 years' experience, she has been counsel in over 100 jury trials and 100 appeals in the Court of Appeal.
Fiona has appeared before Commissions of Inquiry, Coroner's Court, Environment Court, the New Zealand Parole Board, Professional Disciplinary Tribunals and all Courts from the District Court to the Supreme Court.
Fiona has presented at legal seminars on the Solicitor-General's prosecution guidelines and charging decisions, sentencing, substantive criminal law and the Evidence Act. In 2015 she was the Director of the New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills Programme. She is President of the Criminal Bar Association of New Zealand and a former longstanding member of the New Zealand Law Society's Criminal Law Committee.
Fiona is an appointed member of the Appeals Tribunal of the Racing Integrity Board. She sits from time to time on the selection panel for the Michael and Suzanne Borrin Foundation fellowships, scholarships and awards.
Fiona is named in "The Best Lawyers in New Zealand" for Criminal Defence.

My work ranges from murder, manslaughter, sexual offending, Class A, B and C drug offending, arson, violence offences through to driving offences.
I have assisted companies and individuals being investigated for or charged with regulatory offences against the Resource Management Act, Conservation Act, Electricity Act and the Animal Welfare Act.
I have defended Proceeds of Crime applications and acted for a third party seeking relief from orders.
I have an expertise in appeals against conviction, sentence and against decisions on matters of law. I appear on appeals from all around New Zealand.
